During the opening set, Alcaraz lost his cool and threw his racket at his chair after double-faulting.Kyrgios, who is known to have a bad temperament, defended the 20-year-old in response to a tweet that was captioned “No code violations for boy wonder”, with Alcaraz’s video.“Who the f**k cares. The dude is gonna be carrying the tennis load for the next decade. Good on him for showing he is human. Frustrated [for] not playing up to standards. Also let’s start giving codes (code violations) to umpires,” Kyrgios tweeted. The world number one was playing his first tournament ever since defeating the 23-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic in the final of Wimbledon 2023, ending the Serb’s 14-match winning streak. Coming from London as a winner, everyone had Alcaraz as their favourite to win the tournament but the Spaniard could not meet the expectations.Alcaraz talked about his performance after losing the tie and stated that he is looking to practice more to get better."I realise that I didn't play well, these matches," Alcaraz told reporters after losing to Paul for a second straight year in Canada. "All I can do now is practice to be better. I have some weeks before the U.S. Open."But now I have to be focussed on Cincinnati. It's a Masters 1000. It's a big tournament as well. Obviously, I take a lot of lessons from this tournament."I think I did well some things, but probably everything can be better. I always say you can be better in everything even if you've played your best matches in your career."But right now, I have to improve a lot of things, getting more confidence in my game."With US Open just around the corner, it is very important for Alcaraz to get back to his best because Djokovic has been practising for the upcoming Slam and he did not even participate in the Canadian Open just so he could be at his best in the United States.
